Beams And Columns

Concast can provide a wide variety of beams, such as edge beams, spine beams, lintel beams, balcony beams etc.
• Edge Beams – Provide a bearing edge on one side for flooring slabs.
• Spine Beams – Provide a bearing edge on two sides for flooring slabs.
• Lintel Beams – Span over door or window opes, to provide bearing for structure above.
• Balcony Beams – These are beams cast with an integral balcony area, including required opes and levels.
We have a number of standard sizes and shapes for these beams, but if this does not suit a particular project, individual moulds can be fabricated.
Where single storey columns are being used, continuous beams are cast, to reduce the bending moment of the beam, and therefore its depth. Continuous beams extend beyond the column support, and provide bearing for a smaller drop-in beam, between them.

Columns are available in a range of sizes and finishes. Square, rectangles and circular columns can all be cast, to any size required for a specific job.

Single storey columns can be easily cast, these units are generally 2.5 – 4 m high. Beams bear directly on top of these units, with a dowelled connection between them.

Concast can also cast multi storey columns, up to 25m high. These columns are cast with corbels at locations to suit the beams at intermediate levels. In some cases, projecting parapets are also required from the top of the column; these can also be catered for.

Prestressed Beams

Pre-stressed beams can span longer distance at similar depths than ordinary reinforced beams. They can also reduce the amount of steel required in a beam, and therefore can be produced at a lower cost.
These beams can have similar cross sections to standard bridge beams, or can have a new cross section, as requested by the client.
