VolkerFitzpatrick are contracted by Siemens to design, build and commission two new train maintenance depots at Hornsey in north London and Three Bridges near Crawley in West Sussex.
The new depot at Three Bridges, which will be split into east and west-side facilities on either side of the London to Brighton mainline, includes a five road, 12-car maintenance building and is scheduled to be completed in 2015.
The Hornsey depot, scheduled to be completed in 2016, provides for the co-ordinated redevelopment of two separate areas including the existing operational depot and the old sidings. Work under the Hornsey scheme also includes the widening of two existing bridges, a new three- road 12-car maintenance shed, two carriage washing machines, offices and all associated depot infrastructure. The new depot is being built within a live operational rail environment adjacent to the East Coast mainline.
Concast are providing a Precast Insulated Wall Solution to remove all blockwork at both Three Bridges and Hornsey along with Precast; ground beams; retaining walls; stairs; and “swimming pool” maintenance pits.
