NUI-Maynooth John Paul II was awarded the Innovation Award, at the 2013 ACEI Awards. The structure was designed by Punch Consulting, Precast Frame was provided by Concast, and the Main Contractor was PJ Walls.
The redevelopment of John Paul II Library on the south campus of National University of Ireland (NUI) in Maynooth involved a 6,000m2 extension to the existing library facility. The new library building structure consists of precast coffer slabs at each suspended floor level supported on a precast and insitu frame. The building is three storey with plantrooms at roof level. The redevelopment delivered a 10,000m2 state of the art library facility designed with natural ventilation and a high exposed concrete surface finish. The project involved campus wide infrastructure in the linkage of the North and South campus.
